Speaker: Lilli Wells, MS, RDN, SNS, one of our favorite speakers from last year will be joining us to talk about fitness and health.

Ms. Lilli Wells spent most of her career in public health nutrition and management. As an experienced grant writer, she developed funding to build a central kitchen for the Center for Community and Family Service Head Start serving 1,250 children ages 0-5 in Pasadena, Altadena and Glendale.  Because of her love of teaching, she taught at Glendale Community College and was a preceptor for dietetic interns from CSULA, CSUN, CSULB and Glendale Memorial Hospital.  She was an early advocate for school garden and classroom cooking experience for young children.  Lilli witnessed the child obesity crisis and worked tirelessly to bring attention to this social issue. In 2004, she was program coordinator and participated as a panel expert in Childhood Obesity at the annual American Dietetic Association convention.    

After getting married in 2003, she moved to Orange County and began work with Long Beach Unified School District.  She studied and passed the School Nutrition Services credentialing exam to become SNS certified. While at LBUSD, she developed special diets for children with multiple food allergies, obesity, diabetes, PKU, Kidney disease, etc.  Lilli joined Long Beach City College as an adjunct instructor 2014. 

Lilli loves to inspire people to “get moving” and has completed 15 Los Angeles marathons and dozens of 50-mile bike rides and one century (100 miles in one day).  As an urban gardener, she grows most of the family’s vegetables and herbs in their home garden.
